Alumni, parents, friends, and current choir members gathered for a memorable day of music-making, celebrating 65 years of FCMG. Under the superb leadership of our Artistic Director Grace Rossiter, everyone enjoyed a morning of rehearsals, followed by a delicious lunch and a short walk to St Mary Brookfield for the performance. The Seniors, Tenors, and Basses kicked off the concert with beautiful renditions of works by Fauré, Poulenc, and Britten, before the concert concluded with a powerful massed performance of Fauré’s Requiem with alumni and parents. This was swiftly followed by a performance by the younger choirs, Intermediate Choir, Beginner Choir and Dots to a packed house. The Intermediate Choir sang excerpts from Bob Chilcott’s Sporting Chance song cycle, A Child of Song by Herring and Beck, and Feel Good a firm favourite while Beginners sang songs inspired by food, and led the audience in a fruit salad round! It was a truly special day, filled with music, memories, and celebration.

A group of our Intermediate and Senior Choir singers took part in a very special recording with Aurora Orchestra. The singers rehearsed and performed alongside the orchestral players for a recording of two new commissions for Aurora Orchestra’s new project ‘Aurora Classroom’, which offers a library of music resources aimed to support exciting music-making in primary schools. Our singers not only had a wonderful day rehearsing and recording with excellent musicians but also loved contributing to a rich musical programme that will be enjoyed by many young learners.
Girlguiding Celebrates
The Intermediate Choir singers were invited to take part in ‘Girlguiding celebrates’ at the ODEON Luxe cinema in Leicester Square. It was a red-carpet event, supporting celebrations for Girlguiding volunteers that had achieved special awards for their amazing volunteering work. Our Intermediate Choir singers, some of whom are dedicated Brownies, had a fun time performing, with songs including Bob Chilcott’s ‘Red Boots On’, ‘Who Will Buy?’ from Oliver!, and ‘Hushabye Mountain’ from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
