FCMG Senior Choir excelled in the UK premiere of unEarth, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Julia Wolfe’s powerful oratorio responding to the climate crisis, at the Barbican. They sang alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Singers, conductor Martyn Brabbins and soprano Else Torp. Artistic Director Grace Rossiter, who also took a deserved bow on the Barbican stage, led our singers in the intensive rehearsals at Maida Vale Studios and the Barbican itself with Bang on a Can, the New York contemporary music collective. Christmas Concert 2025
A fabulous day of two concerts saw FCMG’s full family of choirs celebrate Christmas at the beautiful St Giles’ without Cripplegate, nestling within the Barbican. The Beginners Choir, conducted by Hannah King, performed alongside all the older ensembles at the Family Carol Concert, while the Evening Christmas Concert ranged from: Bob Chilcott and Max Reger from the Intermediates, conducted by Rebecca Lodge Birkebæk; Bach and Praetorius from Chamber Choir and, from Senior Choir, Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols (an annual tradition, reflecting the composer’s place in the choir’s history), both conducted by Artistic Director Grace Rossiter; and a delightfully memorable Here comes Santa Claus from Tenor and Basses (conductor James Slimings) – pictured above! The breadth of repertoire and excellence of music-making throughout offered the finest possible showcase of FCMG’s work, community and creativity.

Kids Charity fundraising concert
Our Intermediate Choir, conducted by Rebecca Lodge Birkebæk, performed in the beautiful setting of Farm Street Church in December to raise money for Kids Charity, an organisation helping children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, and their families.
