For the past 2 years FCMG has been working regularly with Badanamu, a South Korean learning company teaching English to children aged 2 to 8. Last summer we took a group from Intermediate and Senior Choirs into the studio to record their latest song “Smile With Me” which includes a solo by one of our youngest Senior Choir members, Jack Chambers and the final animated film has just been released – enjoy!
Award-winning actor Samuel West joins the Aurora Orchestra and FCMG’s Senior Choir for a rare performance of Britten’s complete surviving film scores, alongside the original documentary films for which they were composed.
Sunday 29 September, Queen Elizabeth Hall London, 3.15pm
Thursday 7 November, Turner Sims Southampton, 8pm
Sunday 10 November, Fairfield Halls Croydon, 7.30pm
Congratulations to everyone involved in the Intermediate and Beginners Choir workshop performance of Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat which took place at the end of the 2013 summer term.
Sarah Forbes and Janie Mack – the choir directors – with their fabulous accompanists Jenny Gould and Raymond Mack, took the audience on a multicoloured journey through Andrew Lloyd Webber’s much loved childrens musical – the culmination of this terms joint rehearsals with the two younger FCMG choirs. We had some rousing choruses from the Beginners and a whole host of terrific solo performances from members of the Intermediate choir.

The Conductor and FCMG President Sir Colin Davis has died at the age of 85.
Sir Colin Davis, CH, CBE was an English conductor and was President of FCMG since 1997. His repertoire was broad, but among the composers with whom he is particularly associated are Mozart, Berlioz, Elgar, Sibelius, Stravinsky, Tippett and of course Britten. FCMG performed under him several times, most recently in 2004 at the BBC Proms where he conducted Britten’s War Requiem.
Born in Weybridge on 25 September 1927, Sir Colin studied clarinet at the Royal College of Music, going on to play in the band of the Household Cavalry during his military service.
