Martyn Brabbins graciously agreed to become the new President of FCMG in October 2015.
Born in 1959, Martyn studied at Goldsmiths College London, and subsequently joined the Leningrad Conservatory as a conducting student of Ilya Musin.
He is the Chief Conductor of the Nagoya Philharmonic as well as both the Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Flemish Philharmonic and the Music Director of the Huddersfield Choral Society. In addition to these positions, he has conducted many leading orchestras including the Royal Concertgebouw, London Symphony Orchestra and the orchestra of La Scala, Milan.
His career has encompassed a wide variety of repertoire, with particular focus on British music, and in 2014 he joined three others for the First Night of the Proms conducting the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
With over 120 recordings to date for a large variety of contemporary repertoire, as well as his particular interest in the music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, FCMG is delighted to welcome him as our new President.
